Get ready to play Game Show Floral. Come on down to the 2021 Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Florists Association annual convention, April 9-11, 2021, at the Radisson Hotel and Convention Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

This year’s meeting has a game show theme throughout beginning on Friday, April 9, at the all day Floral Wheel of Fortune hands-on workshop with Julia Schmitt AIFD ICPF, EMC, PFCI. As part of this session, Ryan O’Neil PFCI will present three ways to increase wedding business.

Also on Friday, WUMFA members and non-members will have a change to see how a convention is put together with the free Backstage Pass, an opportunity to visit designers, vendors and committee members as they get ready for the show. Friday evening continues with Floral Feud where teams will participate in an evening of fun and floral trivia.

The two full days of the convention will see a combination of design shows, business sessions, and the Designer of the Year runoff. Design sessions will cover a variety of topics including interpretive floral design, Mother’s Day survival skills, surviving creativity, and a floral art presentation. In a special panel design show, industry representatives will discuss where flowers come from and how you can find the colors you need.

Important information can be gleaned from this year’s business sessions. Speakers will discuss wedding organization, pricing skills, and leadership techniques in addition to several other topics.

We hope to bring back all the presenters who were scheduled for the 2020 Convention, they include Mike Hollenbeck AIFD; Tim Farrell, AAF, AIFD, PFCI; Lisa Belisle AIFD, CF; Laura Daluga AIFD; Ann Jordan AAF, AIFD, MMFD; Joe Vega, and Nicole BZ.

As always, excitement is in the air when the Designer of the Year contest takes place on Saturday. The top three designers will compete for $300 and the title of professional division Designer of the Year. The winner will go onto compete at the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds in August against the winners of four Home and Garden show contests for a plaque, $1,500 and the title of Wisconsin Professional Designer of the Year.

Trade show vendors will show off their wares all three days beginning with early bird shopping at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The public will have a chance to see new products and designs in the walkway between hotel registration and the ballroom. Each display will have fun facts about the particular products and their origin.

The Saturday night banquet will continue the game show theme with awards, contests, and prizes.

Exhibitors and Florists are urged to register early. For registration information call (517) 253-7730., or go to the website
